George was killed recently in a car accident. His spouse had died the year before and there were no near relatives. Shadow, George's 2 year old Shih Tzu, waited patiently for him to return home and play - he never would.
The good that emerged out of this horrific story is that a neighbor knew George had a pet and was able to go and get Shadow within hours of the accident; but for the neighbor this ending could have been much different.
Many of us go out each day on errands or to work thinking we'll be home later; does anyone know you have a pet waiting at home?
